The TradesCast for Week 52 - Dec. 25, 2011

Merry Christmas - or Happy Fourth Day of Chanukah!

You may be relaxing with your favorite beverage while unwrapping a present, but we're here at the studio making sure you have a dose of what's good for you ... entertainment info!

This is the last week for the movie industry to catch up with last year's numbers, and they are way short, so go to 100 movies right now! Which one should you see? We give some thoughts on that.

Also, the results are in, and Louis C.K. made a cool mil with his streaming gig. Sounds like we all need one of those.

Also, Tom and Jeff look back on the year's best and worst.

So grab some nog and have a listen.

The TradesCast for Week 51 - Dec. 18, 2011

Does anyone else get that the Golden Globes are a bit of a sham in the sense that you don't even know these folks who vote for them, and there aren't many of them, so it seems they can be swayed. That said, how bout them Golden Globes! We talk nominations and such, and where we think they went wrong.

Speaking of wrong, Britney Spears appears headed toward the altar again. We're sure it will be smooth sailing.

If you haven't heard of tweet seats, you need to listen this week. It's going to change - and deeply annoy - your life.

So stop sitting there and hit play!

The TradesCast for Week 50 - Dec. 11, 2011

Porn has finally arrived at our show, but we are such nerds that it has nothing to do with sex stuff and instead it's about the latest technology in adult entertainment, and how it has progressed to the mainstream.

In the movie world, why does Gary Marshall keep making movies with a bunch of actors who will do anything for money, and yet he refuses to pay for a decent script? Bigger and better movies are on the way, and we discuss.

Redbox is still going to be at your local convenience store, but a new deal may make it a bigger part of your life.

These are just a few of the items to entertain you, so check it out!

The TradesCast for Week 49 - Dec. 4, 2011

Does everyone still have a tummy ache after Thanksgiving, or is everyone working extra hard before the year ends to show the boss you deserve a job in 2012? Whatever is happening, no one went to the movies this week - not a single person. OK, some people did, but only about 10 million, which is low.

Speaking of low, who would ever dump Ali, that cutie from that show with bachelors and bachelorettes, whatever it's called. Gina knows the ins and outs, and now you will too.

Also, Glee is not so gleeful and we'll tell you why.

All that and more, so get ready, because Arthur Christmas is heading down your freakin' chimney with the best entertainment present in the world!

Have a listen!

The TradesCast for Week 48 - Nov. 27, 2011

Is Pan Am canceled or did it simply crash into the sea of oblivion?

Are soap operas a year from being dead now that the Internet refuses to call All My Children home?

And what of the new spate of children's movies? Are they all great and popular, or do critics take it easy on junior fare?

Sure, Tom and Jeff answer all these questions. But that's just the first 10 seconds.

There's so much more!

Have a listen!

The TradesCast for Week 47 - Nov. 20, 2011

Gina is here with the latest gossip, and that includes the latest on Ashton and Demi, and speculation on exactly what happened to Natalie Wood - and why the heck is did it take so long for people to start screaming about suspicious her death was.

What show have we dubbed "Four's Company," and why is it part of a trend that is fracturing America?! OK, that's a bit of an overstatement, but still, it's a thing, and we discuss.

Breaking Dawn, aka "Twilight: Part Who Cares," is here. But what's more interesting is how many people did NOT see Happy Feet Too.

Get your Thanksgiving shopping out of the way, folks, and enjoy a few minutes with us!

The TradesCast for Week 46 - Nov. 13, 2011

Fear not, goth people. Twilight is coming, and Tom and Jeff talk about it, and how no one is going to go to BOTH the latest vampire flick AND Happy Feet Two.

We'd like to hold off Oscar talk, but a certain action film director and his filthy mouth made it impossible to ignore. Bye Eddie and Brett. Go away and we'll try to care.

Why should you care about Flixster today? We'll tell you.

And that's just the beginning!

Take a listen. We're here for your enjoyment!

The TradesCast for Week 45 - Nov. 6, 2011

The rumor mill is grinding away and Gina is making bread out of it, starting with a slice of MJ Doc trial, then a bit of Kardashian Kraziness and ending with some Bieber Baby Fever. Gina knows the ins and outs of Bieber, so you are in good hands.

Puss and Boots went kitty wild this week, and Eddie Murpy it turns out, is an old man.

Also, what do Drew Barrymore and Denzel Washington have in common? We'll tell ya if you have a seat and listen up.

The TradesCast for Week 44 - Oct. 30, 2011

Oh Puss, you and your boots, who doesn't love you? You are so debonair that you broke an all-time Halloween weekend at the box office, leaving studs Johnny Depp and Justin Timberlake in the dust.

And as fascinating as that is, we are spending more time trying to figure out which conglomerate to hate more in the war between DIRECTV and FOX. Both want more money, and we're pretty sure consumers won't see a dime back if the satellite company drops 19 Fox channels from its lineup.

Did you hear that Universal was actually going to offer a $60 pay-per-view, but not of MMA. It was for the upcoming movie Tower Heist. Insane? Yes. Did Universal cave to theater chains? Yes. But this will come up again. Bet on it.

Those are but a few of the awesome entertainment stories Tom and Jeff offer today. So check it out!

The TradesCast for Week 43 - Oct. 23, 2011

Gina is back, which means gossip, which means the latest on Michael Jackson's whack-o doc-o, and whether or not he is going to be in jail for a long time. If only Ms. Lohan could join him in a cell somewhere.

Yes, we knew Paranormal Activity 3 would be big - but come on, it's insane. Don't you wish you came up with this idea? They seem to be cashing in partly because the films are low budget and have no stars, which must drive Hollywood folks insane!

Big surprise - The Three Musketeers is not a hit the 100th time around. Who's fault is it? We discuss.

Also, is the Rosie Show going to be around a while, despite its low ratings?

Nothing got canceled last week on TV, but don't worry something will soon. Which one? Listen and we'll tell you!

The TradesCast for Week 42 - Oct. 16, 2011

Remember when Charlie's Angels was a popular TV show? If you do, then you are old, and also you had a Farrah poster in your room that you stared at for a long time every day. Anyway, the new version was DOA, and so it's gone. What do we think of that? We've got some thoughts.

Did you stand in line for iPhone4S? You did? Why? We wonder aloud.

No one watches TV on Saturdays, and now Fridays are in jeopardy!

Here comes Paranormal Activity 3. Be afraid ... of that scary box office.

Also, what's up with DISH and Blockbuster? Tom and Jeff find it fascinating, and so will you!

All that and more so check it out now!

The TradesCast for Week 41 - Oct. 9, 2011

Yes, Steve Jobs died, and we'll get to it today. But first, because Gina can't help herself, we are all about the Michael Jackson crazy-doc trial. Did he do murder or just bad doctoring? We discuss.

The Simpsons being on TV and Harry Shearer being a jerk. These two things are comforting because they never change.

Did Jeff call it or what? The first cancellations of the season are here!

Real Steel does better in numbers than Ides of March, but numbers can be deceiving.

Who wants to see Footloose, besides Gina that is?

All that and more so have a listen!

The TradesCast for Week 40 - Oct. 2, 2011

It's kind of odd timing that Ashton and Demi are breaking up just as Two and a Half Men is taking off again. Is that show some kind of curse? Or does it just take a jerk to play that stupid role?

Meanwhile, over at FOX, Terra Nova came out and no one much cared. Will it stick around for long?

No one is going to the movies right now, but can you blame them?

These are just a few of the topics Gina and Jeff dive into, so have a listen!

Did anyone miss Two and a Half Men? This week we ask the more important question. Is anyone going to watch again?

And where were all of the X Factor viewers.

Could someone just put Playboy Club out of its misery.

And what's up with Netflix screwing up so badly.

The TradesCast for Week 38 - September 18, 2011

The EMMYS are here! Time for TV to tell you how good TV is.

That's all well and good, but Gina and Jeff have a few things to say, both about Jane Lynch and the comedy material, as well as the about the awards. There were some wild upsets and some mundane sure things (what the hell with Jim Parsons?!), and nothing is off limits.

Also, with three new movies, it was the one everyone's seen that dominated the box office.

And there's a new show that rocks, and who could believe it - it's on NBC!

All that and more, so have a listen!

The TradesCast for Week 37 - September 11, 2011

Of course, 9/11 is what's on most minds today, so Tom Moss and Jeff Favre look at media side of things, asking how - or if - those in the entertainment industry have a role in helping deal with the national grieving process.

Next week is the Emmys, so we make predictions for the big winners, along with what and who we think SHOULD win.

It was a weird week for movies, and it gets weirder next week. Just don't walk into Straw Dogs with your kids if you were planning to see the 3D Lion King.

Also, Tom gets a big ol' scolding for being a hipster. Decide for yourself if he deserves it!

The TradesCast for Week 36 - September 4, 2011

Yes, it's finally time for new TV on the Big 3, which is now the Big 4, plus one little one!

Why, oh why, does anyone thing making Mad Men in the sky (Pan Am) or Mad Man in Chicago (Playboy Club) will be a hit? The ACTUAL Mad Man is not a hit, only with critics.

But will those shows be the first to go? We discuss.

And will there be any new hits? Also, will NBC finally fold up shop and start airing Spanish language Univision shows to get bigger ratings?

Also, What the hell with The Help? It just keeps going and going.

Gina and I hit these topics and more! Have a listen!

The TradesCast for Week 35 - August 28, 2011

It was one of those weeks when a couple of "real" news stories had a major impact on our entertainment world.

First, the hurricane not only hit the coast, it knocked out the box office and Broadway to boot.

Then Steve Jobs stepped down. What will it mean for the future? Tom and Jeff discuss.

Is Ultimate Fighting truly mainstream now? FOX surely thinks so.

And what the heck is up with Ricky Gervais and the awards shows?

We've got some thoughts on these topics and more, so check it out!

The TradesCast for Week 34 - August 21, 2011

Remember when John and Kate Plus 8 drew more than 10 million viewers? Yeah, that's all done now. Kate went solo - with the kids - and it's the end of the road. We discuss the why and what's next for Kate.

Is it also the end of the road for Sex and the City, or will it find new life on TV, or a third film?

It's a tepid box office this weekend, and probably the next, unless Paul Rudd has something to say about it.

And as soap operas look for new life away from TV, cable is enjoying its best year ever.

Gina and Jeff cover all of these and more. Enjoy!

The TradesCast for Week 33 - August 14, 2011

If you enjoyed meeting our first new co-host, Gina Favre, last week, then we're sure you will appreciate the insight of Tom Moss, who will appear every other week. Tom's knowledge of the entertainment world, mixed with his dry sense of humor, is a treat.

The George Lopez "dump" by TBS leads the headlines this week, and we discuss whether his ratings issue is directly related to Conan. After all, Conan moved Lopez out of his original slot.

We're going to miss Borders, and may have to start going to back to the library, which we hear still exists. But for some reason book sales keep going up. Is it all e-publishing, or is something else going on?

The Apes keep drawing a crowd, but here comes a couple of reboots - Conan and Fright Night - to take a shot at the box office crown.

And what happened to Johnny Depp's long-awaited vehicle, The Lone Ranger?

All this and more!

The TradesCast for Week 32 - August 7, 2011

Welcome to a new cast, and a new co-host. Gina Favre the gossip queen will alternate weeks with movie expert Tom Moss as the co-host with Jeff Favre, as we go around the world of entertainment.

The Bachelorette has moved on its merry way, but will be followed by the second season of Bachelor Pad, so we take a look back at the romance that blossomed with Ashley and her man, and we predict how well the latest edition of the Pad does.

Can Jersey Shore remain red hot? It looks like it, though we're at odds as to why.

Will OWN survive its first year, and who will be on the network with Oprah and Rosie.

We look at celebrity Tweeting, check out the box office and more, so enjoy!
